In partnership with the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences, SCCI presents a celebration of the wedding dress accompanied by a specially commissioned performance. Hosted at SCCI and MAAS, the day promises to entice, excite and engage on all levels.

Bridal Variations A @ SCCI

Join us at SCCI headquarters, today lavishly dressed with floral arrangements and memorabilia, for a champagne reception. Circulate the room, mingle over drinks and canapés, and enjoy an informal talk by SCCI Founder, Executive and Artistic Director Dr Gene Sherman before our trip to MAAS for the Love is… exhibition and performance.

Experience the exhibition Love is...Australian Wedding Fashion at Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences and stimulate the senses with interactive costume design. Brought to life by designer Brendan de la Hay, this exclusive SCCI commissioned performance brings you a bride to taste, to see, to touch, to smell and to hear. The brides’ interactive bridal dresses will mirror the five senses while an enchanting vocal performance by Katie Elle Reeve enhances your experience.

The Love is… exhibition features more than 50 wedding outfits plus accessories covering nearly 200 years of Australian weddings. The exhibition includes Australia’s first surviving wedding dress from 1822, gold rush fashions, elegant 1920s gowns, unconventional sixties styles and spectacular contemporary designer fashion, as well as garments reflecting Australia’s culturally diverse communities.


2:50 PM Bus to SCCI.


Booking Information

Paid event $100. Includes champagne and canapes, bus to MAAS and return to SCCI, special performance at MAAS and entry to the Love is… exhibition. Please book via Eventbrite.

Bookings are essential. Tickets are non refundable but transferable, so if you are unable to attend, you may pass your ticket to another party. That party must present your booking confirmation email upon attendance in order to gain admission. Your booking of a place and payment of the ticket price indicates your acceptance of this policy. Brendan de la Hay

Making an international splash with his neo-cabaret characters on Australia’s Got Talent, Brendan de la Hay's award winning, high fashion faces have been spotted wowing audiences across the globe with their all singing, all dancing, entirely inflatable and completely ridiculous show-stopping couture performances. In 2018, de la Hay’s performances will tour to London, Helsinki, Hong Kong and Berlin with return seasons in Sydney as part of Secret Garden Festival and the Art Gallery of New South Wales' Art After Hours series celebrating the 40th Anniversary of the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. Katie Elle Reeve

Katie Elle Reeve is a singer, songwriter, actress and teacher with a vocal and performance versatility enabling her to work in a multitude of genres. In 2013, she was featured on The Voice Australia as part of Ricky Martin's team, receiving critical acclaim for her powerful voice and charismatic stage presence. Reeve is also a script and songwriter, recently premiering her new one woman musical comedy Neighbourhood Watch ahead of a national tour set for 2018. She has worked internationally as a vocalist in bands Soirée, Duke, Peppermint Jam, Boogie Fever, Boomboxx, The Katie Elle Collective and Kitty and the Tom Cats. Reeve appears in:

Joanna Weinberg

Joanna Weinberg is an award-winning Sydney-based performer, writer, songwriter and director. She has written and performed in 14 one-woman shows; recorded five albums of original songs; written the book, lyrics and music for three full-length musicals, including the award-winning Lifeforce (2013); and was songwriter and co-script writer of the romantic comedy film Goddess (2013), for which she was nominated for a FCCI music award. Weinberg is a Music Maestro for the Arts Health Institute and directs a community choir in Millers Point. Weinberg appears in:
