Director's Message

SCCI gratefully acknowledges the generous support of its partners and supporters, including Principal Partners, Barangaroo Delivery Authority, BVN, Cement Concrete & Aggregates Australia and the Nelson Meers Foundation. Please view the full list here.

SCCI, a Hub series fashioned as the newest evolution of the re-named Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, launched in April 2018.

Our aim is to provide a vibrant platform for the exchange of the most challenging and engaging ideas on architecture and fashion, within the broader context of culture. Fashion, in particular, has lacked serious attention as a sophisticated, intellectually rich and multifaceted mode of creative expression. Through SCCI, we seek to elevate it to a more prominent position alongside other artforms, and begin a conversation that is long overdue. The very best of contemporary ideas on architecture, and its intersections with cultural, social, aesthetic and economic life, will also be explored intensively at SCCI.

Our forum for this deep engagement is two concentrated public event programmes in Sydney each year, over the five-year period 2018-2022: SCCI Fashion Hub, each April/May, and SCCI Architecture Hub, running September/October.

Details of our sold out inaugural Fashion Hub may be found here. From 12 - 21 October 2018, we will present our first Architecture Hub – please see the our content-rich programme here – with over 20 sessions and some 50 speakers ranging across diverse topics from the Future of Architecture to Ethical Architecture to Women and Architecture. Four VIP international keynotes join us, including eminent architects Kengo Kuma (Japan), Ryue Nishizawa (Japan) and Gurjit Matharoo (India), together with US based architecture focussed artist Michael Rakowitz.

We do hope you will take a moment to view our programme and book early for events, as venue capacity is limited.

On behalf of the SCCI team, we look forward to warmly welcoming you to Architecture Hub.
